Who is this guide for?

The focus is on scientific research projects that want to disseminate their work to a broader audience. These tend to be smaller, academically focused websites working to fulfill the broader impact aspect of NSF grants.

The process we outline in the guide will work for any website but our focus is on dissemination and broader impact.

Some numbers …

We estimate that you should be able to build to and sustain 15 to 30 visitors a day over the course of the next three to four months. That’s between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors a year.

Those numbers aren’t guarantees. Much of this depends on the time you are willing to spend on the process and, to some degree, your topic area.

How much work is this?

This largely depends on your goals. We estimate it would take an hour or two a day for three to six months. If you can build a basic website you shouldn’t have any problem with our web visibility process.

Once you’ve gone through the process it gets easier and can be applied to any web dissemination project (and written into future grants).
